AFRICA/MADAGASCAR - Bishop of Toamasina resigns, successor appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Benedict XVI, on November 24, 2008,
accepted the renunciation of the pastoral government of the Diocese of Toamasina (Madagascar), presented by Bishop René Rakotondrabé, in conformity with the Code of Canon Law, canon 401 § 1. The Pope appointed Bishop Désiré Tsarahazana, until now Bishop of the Diocese of Fenoarivo Atsinanana, as Bishop. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 25/11/2008)
