Lima (Fides Service) – On May 24, as part of celebrations for the National Missionary Childhood day in Peru, held on the last Sunday in May with collections in parishes and schools, the local Church has organised a “Festival for Missionary Childhood Children and Animators”. The festival will include traditional dances and songs, Bible plays, little conferences on the Missionary Childhood theme for this year “Mary is your Mother: all the Children of the world are your Brothers and Sisters”. “The festival for the little missionaries will take place at S. Augustine’s College in San Isidro (Lima) and about 5,000 children are expected to attend” Father Gianfranco Iacopi, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Peru tells Fides Service. Missionary Childhood Day is preceded by intense preparation during the month of May: parishes, schools and groups reflect on various themes concerning the situation of children in the world.
