ASIA/INDONESIA - First encounter of the Charismatic Movement in Asia and Oceania to take place in Bogor

Tuesday, 2 September 2008

Bogor (Agenzia Fides) – The first international encounter of members of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Asia and Oceania will take place in the Diocese of Bogor (Indonesia), September 14-18. The faithful will meet to promote unity, exchange testimonies, talks, catechesis, and prayer. Organizing the encounter is the Asia-Oceania Sub-Committee of the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal, which is recognized by the Holy See. The Committee, formed by 42 leaders from charismatic communities in the Middle East, southern Asia, southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands, met last year in Singapore to prepare the historic event that will attract faithful of the movement in the two continents, who will gather together for the first time. During the encounter, which is expected to be attended by several Bishops, there will be Masses, praise and worship, and study seminars. The Diocese of Bogor, near Jakarta, has prepared the local parishes for accommodating attendants, thanks to the work of their priests, religious, and laity. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 2/9/2008)
