Friday, 14 March 2008

Tian Jin (Agenzia Fides) - The Catholic community in China is preparing for the intense celebration of Holy Week that will culminate with the feast of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday. According to sources in communication with Fides, from the Diocese of Tian Jin, some parishes of the diocese have begun to spread word of their Holy Week activities to the faithful, using a parish website or through other traditional means of communication. The parishes of Shao Lin, Da Gang, and Bei Zha Kou, will celebrate the Pascal Triduum in union with the Universal Church, in the spirit of the Lenten Message from the Pope. In fact, in the announcements of the activities, they have also included quotes from the Pope’s Message. The faithful from the parish of Most Holy Savior will celebrate Palm Sunday in their parish, with lighting, thanks to their newly-installed electrical system. Due to construction, the faithful have had to attend other parishes for the celebrations or meet in a little room in the parish for Mass and for the Lenten retreat. On Sunday, the will finally be able to return to their Church and celebrate Palm Sunday and prepare for a Holy Easter. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 14/3/2008; righe 14, parole 197)
