EUROPE/POLAND - Bio-ethics: a new challenge for teaching and catechesis

Tuesday, 8 January 2008

Czestochowa (Agenzia Fides) -Bio-ethics and new ethic challenges in medicine will be the theme for reflection during a Catechetical Symposium on 12 January at the Institute for Theological Studies in Czestochowa for teachers, catechists, priests and religious from all over the country. Professors from Pontifical Academy for Theology at Krakow and the Catholic University of Lublin, Fr Andrzej Zwoliński and Fr. Piotr Kieniewicz, will speak on different ethic, social, cultural and educational aspects of bio-ethics. “In Poland today bio-ethics is a new challenge for the Church. Ethic issues must be treated in schools. Catholic teachers must be informed on these issues so they are able to explain them to young people clearly and sufficiently. I think bio-ethics is a challenge for the Church's evangelising activity today” said Fr Norbert Pikula, diocesan director of Pastoral Studies for Catechists.
