EUROPE/POLAND - Mission Workshops : Educating to mission in schools

Wednesday, 24 October 2007

Czestochowa (Agenzia Fides) - “Education to Mission” is the principal theme of “Mission Workshops” being held in Czestochowa during Mission Week, 21-28 October. Participants include priests, men and women religious, catechists, mission animators and all those involved in the activity of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the parishes of the archdiocese of Czestochowa. During the workshops missionaries present their experience, their difficulties and challenges for the Church in her work of evangelisation… With this initiative missionaries enter schools of all grades, to meet pupils and students and present the Church's activity in the field of mission. The missionaries share with pupils and teachers their work in Africa, Asia, Oceania and Latin America.
“When we enter schools with the Mission Workshop programme we present the rich and important question of mission today. We offer testimony of mission work - - says Fr Jacek Gancarek, diocesan director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the archdiocese of Czestochowa. There are many groups and movements of the Pontifical Mission Societies in our parishes. In schools during the religious instruction lessons, the children learn about missionary work. For many years Poland has sent priests, religious and lay people on mission to Africa, Latin America and Asia. Mission workshops are an initiative of pastoral care especially aimed for young people, who are the future”. (MF) (Agenzia Fides 24/10/2007; righe 19, parole 229)
