Erbil (Agenzia Fides) – At a time when personal benefit dominates morals, what should be forbidden in any way is justified and corruption legalized, "we desperately need Jesus to lead us toward truth, love, good will, dignity and grace." This is why Holy Week is a "necessary" time; a time "that we all need "to clear out our minds and hearts" and find in Christ "the only living source in our lives, to whom we are so grateful". This is what Chaldean Cardinal and Patriarch Louis Raphael Sako writes in a message on Holy Week that highlights the tribulations of the Chaldean Church, which "in the midst of difficult circumstances, is "going through its 'Way of Cross'", and yet it is called to "be a bridge for fraternity, unity and peace".
In his message, the Iraqi Cardinal retraces and briefly comments on all the saving mysteries of the passion, death and resurrection of Christ celebrated in Holy Week and Easter Time, from Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, to his crucifixion, up to the encounters of the Risen Christ with the disciples. “Jesus” concludes Patriarch Sako, quoting the words of Christ in the Gospel according to Matthew “is always with us, even in the challenges and difficulties that hurt us. Let us remember His promise: "Behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age". (GV) (Agenzia Fides, 25/3/2024)
