Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - We publish the statement by the Director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, on the recognition by the civil authorities of the episcopal ministry of Bishops Augustine Cui Tai and Joseph Ma Yan'en.
It is with satisfaction that today, on the occasion of the taking possession of the Office of Auxiliary Bishop of Zhangjiakou by His Excellency Bishop Joseph Ma Yan'en, his Episcopal Ministry is also recognized for the purposes of civil law. Likewise, the episcopal dignity of His Exc. Msgr. Augustine Cui Tai, Bishop Emeritus of Xuanhua, is also recognized for the purposes of civil law. These events constitute a further fruit of the dialogue between the Holy See and the Chinese Authorities and is an important step in the journey of communion of the new Diocese.
