Vatican City (Fides News Agency) - The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Peter Kimani Ndung 'u S.A.C. - of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Nairobi, hitherto National Chaplain of the Prison Service of Kenya - Bishop of the Diocese of Embu (Kenya).
H.E. Msgr. Peter Kimani Ndung 'u was born on November 11, 1966 in Githunguri (Kiambu district), in the Archdiocese of Nairobi. After the preparatory year at St. Mary's Major Seminary in Molo, he studied Philosophy at the Apostles of Jesus Major Seminary in Nairobi, and Theology at St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary in Nairobi.
He was ordained a priest on July 22, 1995 for the Archdiocese of Nairobi.
He has held the following positions and carried out the following further studies: Assistant at the Sts. Peter and Paul in Kiambu (1995-1999); Parish priest of the Holy Rosary in Kamwangi (1999-2001); since 2001, National Chaplain of the Kenya Prisons Service (Kenya Prisons Service); Diploma in computer science (2002); Diploma in psychological support for the rehabilitation of prisoners (2003) and subsequent update (2015) at the United Nations Asia and Far East Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFEI); since 2008, Representative for Africa in the International Commission of Catholic Prison Pastoral Care (ICCPPC).
