AFRICA/MADAGASCAR - Appointment of bishop of Maintirano (Madagascar)

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Clément Herizo Rakotoasimbola, M.S., until now parish priest of the district of Antsalova and vicar delegate of the apostolic administrator of Maintirano.
Msgr. Clément Herizo Rakotoasimbola, M.S., was born on 27 November 1974 in Ambohipihaonana – Ambohimanga, Rova. After studying philosophy at the Saint Paul Seminary in Tsaramasoandro, he studied theology in the major seminary of Faliarivo.
He gave his first vows as part of the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette in 2010, and subsequently obtained a master’s degree in biblical theology from the Université Catholique de Madagascar in Ambatoroka.
After two years of pastoral experience in Ankavandra and Mandoto, and after his juniorate at the Spiritual Centre of Antsahasoa, he gave his perpetual vows in 2015.
He was ordained a priest on 30 July 2016.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar in Ankazomiriotra and head of the Saint Michel High School in Ankazomiriotra (2016-2019), parish priest of Antsalova (since 2019), vicar general of Maintirano (2021-2023), and vicar delegate of the apostolic administrator (since 2023).
