From Ad Gentes decree
"The pilgrim Church is missionary by her very nature. For it
is from the mission of the Son and the mission of the Holy Spirit
that she takes her origin, accordance with the plan of God the Father"

| THE
MISSION OF THE PEOPLE OF GOD |
The Risen Christ sends his disciples to carry on the mission he
received from the Father and he breathes his spirit on them. At
Pentecost the People of God begins the missionary journey on the
roads of the world, to the far corners of the earth. The Book of
the Acts of the Apostles narrates the first steps of this journey
outside Palestine and then, with the calling St Paul the Apostle,
as far as Greece and Rome. After two thousand years the words of
Christ still resound in the hearts of his disciples: "Go therefore
and teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father,
the Son and the Holy Spirit" (Mt 28, 19). This is why all Christians
are sent into the world to bring to completion the mission of the
Master. This is why the Church is essentially missionary.
