In Pakistan DSP Sisters have two communities in Lahore and Karachi.
There are 12 nuns, five of whom are local women, 8 novices and 20
aspirants. Sister Daniela Baronchelli who has worked in Pakistan
for 22 years founded the first local community of the Daughters
of St Paul here in 1986. After a period of rest Sr. Daniela hopes
to resume missionary activity with the sisters in Pakistan ever
more numerous."Pakistan is a special place where God calls
and tests his people by fire. We must take off our shoes and open
our eyes and heart to see Him

| "Doing something for the Lord
and for the men and women of the new century". This was the
impelling call young Giacomo Alberione heard during the night of
December 31, 1900, of whom we are about to celebrate the Centenary.
He was at prayer in the Cathedral of Alba when he first had a dream
which became reality to train new apostles able to make use of the
new means of progress to extend the proclamation of the Gospel to
new fields. This was the beginning of the adventure of the Pauline
Family, a missionary adventure sparked by the desire to preach and
sustain men and women of the world of today with the power of the
Gospel. D. Alberione, born at S. Lorenzo di Fossano on April 4,
1884, was to gradually make his dream come true. He was ordained
a priest, was appointed spiritual director, head of the Gazzetta
d'Alba weekly publication. He began his Work on August 20, 1914
with a small group of young men who were to form the Society of
St Paul. A year later they are joined by a group of young women
who will be the first community of the Daughters of St Paul. The
Society of St Paul and the Daughters of St Paul, two distinct congregations,
have they same spirit and mission. Their horizons are universal,
open to all peoples, regardless of category or race, because like
St Paul, they wish to be "all to all" . |
