ASIA - Camillians open new centre for people with a disability in Taiwan and a nurses training school in the Philippines

Rome (Fides Service) - A new Camillian Centre for Centre for People with Disabilities was recently opened in Taipei by the Archbishop of Taipei Mgr Joseph Cheng. Guests included the secretary of the President of Taiwan and members of the Conference of European Churches. The Centre can accommodate 120 patients, including 20 in a state of coma. The structure was realised thanks to generous local benefactors in Taiwan.
The Camillians have also opened a new Training School Nursing and Obstetrics Manaoag which can take 300 students. The College is a fruit of a large donation from an Italian donor and other donations from foreign institutions. The opening ceremony was animated by a group of 250 pupils at S. Camillo Primary school prepared by teachers. General consultor Fr. Luigi Galvani, blessed the new building in the presence of members of the Conference of European Churches, missionaries, many guests and the children’s parents. The school will be run by Famiglia Camilliana Laica, recently established as a Foundation. (AP) (29/9/2005 Agenzia Fides; Righe:18; Parole:190)
