Trujillo (Fides Service) - Bishop Virgilio López Irías, O.F.M., appointed first Bishop of Trujillo Honduras in 1987, was killed in a car accident on June 22. Virgilio López Irías was born in La Ceiba, San Pedro Sula diocese on 29 September 1937, and ordained a priest on 14 July 1973. On July 3 1987, when Pope John Paul II created the new diocese of Trujillo, he appointed Virgilio López Irías first Bishop of Trujillo. The new Bishop was ordained on 7 October that same year.
