ASIA/CHINA - Parish in inner Mongolia adopts pastoral programme to draw more people to church and frequent reception of the Sacraments

BaoTou (Fides Service) -Qing Shan parish in Bao Tou, inner Mongolia is a very active community. Between 1998 and 2001 the people built their own church with a splendid bell tower 35 meters high. With the encouragement of the parish priest Yang FuXi the parishioners have formed prayer groups, a parish choir, catechism classes, Bible Study groups and charity work. On Sundays about 300 attend Mass and on special feasts the congregation swells to about 1,000. Aware of the parish’s rich human resources Father Yang FuXi has elaborated a pastoral programme of mission to reach out to other people and encourage more and more people to come to church and take an active part in parish life.
