Bogota (Agenzia Fides) - In his message for Easter 2004, Cardinal Pedro Rubiano Sáenz, Archbishop of Bogota, President of the Colombian Bishops’ Conference (CEC) and Primate of Colombia, calls on the people to celebrate God’s “passover” in their lives, so that Easter is not only taking part in religious celebrations. The Cardinal said that the celebration of Easter means making visible God’s passover in our lives. His passover transforms us and calls us to model our lives on the values of the Gospel. “Let us strive to find again the religious sense of this Season, not only the part of entertainment, so we may incarnate the commandment of love as we celebrate it in the Eucharist and renew the promises made at our baptism to proclaim our faith publicly and coherently”. The CEC President ends his brief message recalling that Easter is the triumph of Life over sin, death and violence (cf Rom 6,9) and as such it must be celebrated in Bogota, in Colombia and all over the world. “Christ is our peace” (Eph 2,14), let us welcome His peace with commitment to build it ” the Cardinal concludes.
