AFRICA/SIERRA LEONE - UNITED STATES AND GREAT BRITAIN WARN TAYLOR TO STOP EFFORTS TO DESTABILISE SIERRA LEONE

Freetown (Fides Service )- The United States and Great Britain have issued a severe warning to former Liberian President Charles Taylor. The two countries say they will take Taylor before a Special Court in Freetown to judge war crimes committed in Sierra Leone. Taylor, in exile in Nigeria, is charged with smuggling arms to Sierra Leone which has just exited from a bloody civil war. The Special Court in Freetown has already charged Taylor with supporting Sierra Leone rebels in the past. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 31/12/2003, lines 12 words 116)
