EUROPE/KOSOVO - GIRLS SAVED FROM THE STREETS THANKS TO ITALIAN BUSINESS WOMEN IN MONTALCINO

Pristina (Agenzia Fides) – Education rather than assistance is provided for girls at a new professional training centre built in Pristina, Kosovo by the International Association of Volunteers for Development Volontariato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo (VIS), NGO sponsored by the Salesians. The Centre educates the girls to approach culture and the economy “as essential factors for the growth and development of the individual person”. Professional training enables the girls to avoid the snares of illegal trafficking and prostitution. The Qendra Sociale Edukative Don Bosco, inaugurated recently in Pristina, is sponsored by the Montalcino al Femminile. Montalcino, the smallest town in Tuscany is renowned for its economic development and its ability to preserve traditions while favouring innovations. The initiative started by the “Comitato Montalcino al Femminile”, promoted by a group of local business women, tends to valorise women’s involvement in the economy and show solidarity with women in depressed areas of the world.
