AFRICA/KENYA - ELEVEN AFRICAN HEADS OF STATE AND GOVERNMENT TO MEET IN NAIROBI TO DISCUSS HOW TO GUARANTEE LASTING DEVELOPMENT

Nairobi (Fides Service) – Presidents or heads of government of Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Maurizio, Rwanda, Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania e Uganda, will meet on Wednesday 29 October in the capital of Kenya, Nairobi, to discuss NEPAD New Partnership for African Development. This is the second such meeting: the first was held in Nairobi, in June 2002. The second Summit will focus attention on greater collaboration between public and private sectors to allow projects connected with NEPAD to take off. The meeting of heads of state and government will be preceded by a series of preparatory meetings of experts who will examine the situation and identify matters requiring discussion. The aim of NEPAD is to guarantee lasting development on the continent of Africa relying on the help and collaboration of rich countries. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 24/10/2003 – lines 10; words 148)
