ASIA/MONGOLIA - SARS: SIX CASES REPORTED BUT ONLY TWO CONFIRMED

Ulaanbaator (Fides Service) - Rev. Wenceslao Padilla, Prefect Apostolic of Ulaanbaator, Mongolia, confirms to Fides Service that two cases of SARS have been confirmed actually in the city of Ulaanbaator where there are four other suspected cases. The patients are all in the same hospital. Since the government order people going to public buildings to wear a face mask, Rev. Padilla has asked the Catholics in the three parish churches in Ulaanbaator to take similar precautions. However the situation in Ulaanbaator is not as critical in Chinese Mongolia where the World Health organisation has reported 23 cases. Here is a table showing the number of cases so far.
