Kyoto (Fides Service) - The third World Water Forum closed with
a declaration signed by more than a hundred countries. The declaration
calls for action to solve a dramatic water emergency which threatens
the very survival of humanity on a planetary scale. The Forum
examined and approved 400 programmes for concrete intervention,
40 of which presented by Italy. Kyoto Forum seems to have created
among the participants (divided on certain key issues including
privatisation of water resources, doubling public investments
and the inclusion among basic human rights of the right to water)
awareness of the duty to take action. See
