Papeete (Fides Service) - Polynesian culture and social justice
was the theme of two Social Days, 7 and 8 February organised by
the diocese of Papeete. Dominique Soupe from Tahiti informs Fides
Service that 124 persons from all walks of life took part, including
government vice president, and the French deputy to Polynesia.
Three interventions opened the event promoted by the Justice and
Peace Commission of Papeete diocese. First to speak was Father
Joel Aumeran, diocesan priest president of the JP Commission,
who emphasised the important role played by the Catholic Church
to promote social justice. Fr Aumeran also stressed the objective
of the Social Days : "learning to live together, all together".
