Rome (Fides Service) - Statistics issued by the United Nations Organisation reveal disturbing facts. There are at least 140 situations of conflict in the world and 70% of the people most affected are women and children. Women are often treated with violence, reduced to slavery, left alone to fend for their families, forced to abandon their homes, bring up their children under inhuman conditions, live in refugee camps. Suffering of women because of war is widespread and help is scarce, but many find the courage and will to start all over again.
