Vatican City (Fides Service) - Since the phenomenon of the flourishing of new sects, pseudo religions, New Age, Satanic rituals is a topic of discussion in the media, Fides Service, in collaboration with the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue, opens today a new section entitled "The phenomenon of sects and new religious movements: a Pastoral Challenge". The section will give basic information, figures, and articles by experts, bishops' Conferences etc. Today, with the collaboration of Ms Teresa Osorio Goncalves who works at the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, we provide papers in French and Italian. "Sectes et noveaux mouvements religieux dans la reflexion de l'eglise" and "Riflessioni sociali e pastorali sulle nuove forme di religiosità". The first explains the position of the Catholic Church with regard to religious pluralism, analysing situations and answers for the different continents. The text also deals with the question of possible dialogue with the new religious situations and tendencies. The article in Italian offers a picture of the rapid transformation of the religious situation at the international level. The text speaks of terminology, the causes of growing pluralism and the ensuing debate.
