Vatican City (Fides Service) - Before his Angelus prayer with
people gathered in St Peter's Square at 12 noon on Sunday January
26, The Holy Father reminded those present that the Meeting for
Families in Manila 25 and 26 January, had just come to an end.
"The future of society passes by way of the family"
he said and then asked: "But what sort of family are we talking
about? Certainly not the false family built on individual selfishness.
Experience shows that the "caricature" of the family
has no future and it cannot offer a future to any society. The
family is good news in as much as it welcomes the vocation given
to it at the beginning of humanity. This original project for
life is shared, through the grace of God, also by many non-Christian
married couples. In this way today the family is a privileged
path for dialogue between religions and cultures and therefore
a path of reconciliation and peace". See
