Rome (Fides Service) - Schools all over Europe are having to
provide special assistance to ensure proper insertion of foreign
pupils, constantly increasing in number in most countries, Italy
in particular. In the Lombardy region some 25% of the 181,767
pupils enrolled for the year 2001-2002 were non-Italians. One
initiative to promote integration in school is a web site www.centrocome.it
. Centro Come is a social services co-operative opened by Caritas
Milan in 1994. COME.Net provides information and counselling for
teachers and pupils in multi-lingual and multi-cultural classes.
