Europe/Italy - 26 January is the 50th World Day in Aid of Leprosy Sufferers

Rome (Fides Service) - Sunday 26 January is the 50th World Day in Aid of Leprosy Sufferers organised by the French organisation, Friends of Raoul Follereau. In Italy the Amici di Raoul Follereau Association AIFO has planned a funding campaign. In piazze all over the country AIFO volunteers will sell pots of "solidarity honey" in aid of leprosy sufferers in India. India has 73% of all the leprosy patients in the world. Millions people are still affected by the disease which is today completely curable. The honey used for the AIFO campaign comes from small honey producers in rural areas of Croatia. See mini dossier on leprosy in English at www.fides.org (Fides Service 23/1/2003)
