Havana (Fides Service) - In communion with the 3rd World Meeting of Families, in Manila Philippines 24-26 January, various initiatives are being taken in dioceses the world over. Holguin diocese in Cuba for example is organising a Diocesan Family Meeting prepared with a series of reflections and discussing groups in parishes and religious communities on the role of the family and the problems it faces. The organising committee issues a weekly e-mail information bulletin on preparatory events. To involve every member of the family the Committee has organised competitions: for children a painting competition entitled "My family and me" and for adults an essay competition "The family, heart of new humanity".
