Rome (Fides Service) - Ethiopia and Eritrea are threatened with drought like the tragedy is the 1980s. In Eritrea 2.5 people, more than 2/3 of the population will suffer the consequences of lack of water. Caritas Italy is present supporting the local Church and launches an appeal in four areas: food aid, reactivation of wells, distribution of seed; supplies of medicines. In Ethiopia already 10 million people are hungry and the number could rise to 14 million in the first months of 2003. Here too Caritas is present with a number or projects: training in farm work for men and women; reactivation of wells, agricultural development.
