Sarajevo (Fides Service) - Catholics of Sarajevo have once again
their weekly newspaper, after a gap of 57 years. At the end of
November Katoliciki tjednik the Catholic weekly published by the
Catholic archdiocese of Sarajevo resumed its publications after
being closed for more than half a century. The paper was established
in 1927 by the then Archbishop of Sarajevo Ivan Saric. When Communists
came to power in 1945 the paper was banned. Reporting this welcome
event to Fides Service the National Director of the Pontifical
Mission Societies in Bosnia Herzegovina said: "Today in this
post-Communist and post-war time, the new edition of this diocesan
weekly is of great importance for the life of the whole local
Church and also for individual Catholics who live in a multi religious
and multi ethnic society in Bosnia Herzegovina". (Fides Service
