Guadalajara (Fides Service) - In Guadalajara a small community
of Camillian Fathers, ministers of the sick, is using the internet
to make known the joy of ministering to the infirm and spreading
God's love. Three Italian priests who came to Mexico in 2001,
recently opened a web site www.camilos.org.mx to make known the
work of the Camillian institute, promote courses in pastoral care
of the sick, which the Fathers are already providing, and also
to encourage vocations. Recently Father Davide Negrini, one of
the three, was invited by a local Catholic radio station run by
the Franciscans to speak about his work of ministering to the
sick. Not long afterwards, to his surprise Fr Davide received
a telephone call from a young man who had heard the programme
and was interested in taking part in a vocation meeting. Since
October Fr Negrini has been holding regular weekly vocation-promotion
meetings in different parishes. He tells groups of young people
about his work and distributes leaflets and other information.
Four young men have already asked to know more about the life
of the Camillian Order and how to join. The Camillian Fathers
were founded in Italy in 1582. Today there are 2000 FC members
working in 10 countries: Italy, Ireland, United Kingdom, France,
Spain, Benin, Burkina Faso, Australia, United States, eleven with
Mexico. (Fides Service 29/11/2002)
