Africa/Ethiopia - Food emergency ever more critical

Addis Abeba (Fides Service) - Dramatic reports continue to arrive from Ethiopia where millions are in danger of starving to death. The Salesians their VIS volunteers launch a dramatic appeal: "There is urgent need of food, water, medicines and everything else" says Fr Cesare Bullo, co-ordinator of the Salesians in Ethiopia. "Here the people are at the end of their tether, reduced to skin and bones. The pastures are dry, and many of the animals, the only means of sustenance, are dead. We are preparing to watch, unable to do anything to prevent it, the most serious food crisis ever known in Ethiopia." The Salesians and their VIS volunteers have been working here since 1975.
