| Vatican City (Fides Service) - The Holy Father,
Pope John Paul II has (26 November 2002) accepted the renunciation
of the Office as Apostolic Administrator "sede vacante et ad
nutum Sanctae Sede" of Dili (East Timor) presented by Bishop
Carlos Felipe Ximenes Belo SDB, titular of Lorium, in conformity
with the Code of Canon Law, canon 401,2. On the same day the Pope
appointed Apostolic Administrator of Dili (East Timor), Bishop Basilio
do Nascimento, titular of Settimunicia, who maintains the office
of Apostolic Administrator "sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae
Sede" of Baucau. (Fides Service 26/11/2002) |
