Acta of the Holy See - Asia/Vietnam - Can Tho: Coadjutor Bishop Rev. Fr Stephanus Tri Buu Thien
Vatican City (Fides Service) - The Holy Father, Pope John Paul II has, (6 November 2002) appointed coadjutor Bishop of Can Tho diocese in Vietnam, Reverend Father Stephanus Tri Buu Thien, of the clergy of the same diocese, professor in Moral Theology at Can Tho major seminary
The Bishop elect was born on 15 February 1950 at Tra Long, Tan Long, Soc Trang, diocese of Can Tho. He entered the minor seminary at Can Tho and then went to study philosophy and theology at the Pius X Pontifical College in Dalat (1971-1977). He was ordained a priest on July 22, 1987. Since then he has been: parish priest at Xuan Hoa, Ke Sach, Hau Giang (1987-91); professor at the Thanh Quy major seminary, Cai Rang, Can Tho (1991-94); student at Urban University Rome, where he obtained a doctorate in moral theology (1994-98). Since 1988 professor of moral theology at Can Tho major seminary. (Fides Service 26/11/2002)
