Shkodre (Fides Service) - On Saturday November 9, Cardinal Crescenzio
Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples,
had a meeting with the Albanian Bishops' Conference at the Mother
of Good Counsel major seminary, in Skhodre and then presided the
celebration of Vespers to mark the 10th anniversary of the founding
of the Seminary. Addressing the members of the Bishops' Conference,
the Cardinal praised the "extraordinary work of reconstruction"
to build churches, various centres for catechesis, medical care,
schools, achieved by the Bishops and apostolic administrators
in these last ten years of rediscovered freedom, but above all
to build the spiritual temple of God in every creature. On this
subject the Cardinal stressed the need to "put aside everything
that divides" and to strive to build mutual respect and understanding.
Another priority is vocation pastoral: "the key to success
is constant prayer, united with sacrifices especially suffering
offered up by the sick" the Cardinal said calling also for
"special attention for the seminary" . Presiding Vespers
in the college chapel, the Cardinal said: "We thank God for
the progress made in this seminary over these last ten years passing
from the initial situation of emergency to the present state of
systematic and regular method
Today this seminary is an authentic
centre of priestly formation", said the Prefect of Propaganda
Fide. The Cardinal urged the students to live this time of formation
as "a unique moment of grace". And he told them: "Albania
needs priests who are living icons of profound faith, pastoral
charity, ready for sacrifice, unswerving hope, persevering courage,
merciful forgiveness, capable of dialogue in brotherhood, communion
and mission". Three things the Cardinal recommended in particular
to the seminarians: to make known Jesus, the Way, the Truth and
the Life, the only Saviour of mankind; to put mission at the centre
of life and preaching; to imitate Jesus' life of service. See
