Rome (Fides Service) - "The frontiers of life: a confrontation
between science, ethics and law" was the title of a convention
promoted by the Italian Associations Famiglia Domani e Fiducia,
(Family Tomorrow and Trust), held in Rome 25 and 26 October. Participants
from various countries included medical, juridical, theological
and ethical experts. In fact human life is not only a technical
matter it involves all these areas. The purpose of the convention
was to inform public opinion, often influenced and misled by superficial
publicists and secular bio-ethics which separate the technical
aspect from the moral issues of the question and reduce the legal
to anything materially possible. Those present called for an ethical
and juridical statute to defend human life from conception to
natural death, to protect it from ideologies and interests and
restore it to divine providence and the care of man. We
give here a brief report on the convention.
