Tirana (Fides Service) - To mark the return to Albania ten years
ago of the Opera Don Orione (1992-2002), the local Church is organising
a series of events in different towns: Elbasan, Tirana, Scutari,
Durazzo. Bishop Hil Kabashi, Apostolic Administrator of southern
Albania, underlines that these ten years have been a return for
the Orionini pastoral workers because before the outbreak of the
Second World War they were present in various parts of the country
with various charitable undertakings. Since the fall of the Communist
regime in 1991, members of over 100 different religious institutes
have helped to build a new Albania and many of these were present
before World War II. The Orionini run Villages of Hope, as well
as assisting in parish pastoral work and evangelisation. (Fides
Service 23/10/2002)
