Asia/Bangladesh - Indian priest leads Dhaka Catholics to adore the Blessed Sacrament

Dhaka (Fides Service) - A little church built by Portuguese priests in 1677 has become Bangladesh's first an adoration chapel. Thanks to Indian Father Stephen Raphael a growing number of local Catholics are discovering the joy and peace which comes from adoring the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. UCA News reports. Father Raphael, from Calcutta archdiocese, specialises in promoting devotion to the Divine Eucharistic Presence among the faithful and particularly the sick. More than 2,000 attended a healing prayer service, including many sick persons, some near to death. One parishioner, 75 year old Peter, found the 3 hour service a bit long but worth it he said, "because the sick gained some mental peace". Assistant parish priest Father Gome said proudly that parishioners have signed up for round-the clock-adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the chapel. PS (Fides Service 23/10/2002)
