Port-au-Prince ( Fides Service) - There is great rejoicing in the Camillian mission in Port-au-Prince in Haiti, founded 7 years ago: a group of four young islanders have been admitted to the novitiate, the first local men to join the order. The new novices will receive their formation in Burkina Faso (Africa), where the Camillian Order has its French-speaking International Novitiate. This year the Novitiate will enrol 5 novices natives of Burkina Faso, 6 from Benin and these 4 from Haiti. The Camillian Mission of Port-au-Prince, founded in 1995, comprises 3 Italian priests, and one lay consecrated women. They run a Health Centre for children, recently opened, and a Community for young people who are considering devoting their life to caring for those who suffer. (S.L.) (Fides Service 23/9/2002) |
