Father
of goodness and mercy, rejuvenate your Church in America with apostolic
impulse in Christian communities and groups, to proclaim within
and beyond the Continent, the Gospel of Jesus the light and hope
of all peoples. (From
Pope's prayer
for CAM 2) |

American Missionary Congress |

|
 |
This Missionary American Congress of year 2003 will have its own
uniqueness in the context of Smallness, Poverty and Martyrdom that
characterizes the pilgrim Church of the Central America peoples.
This is why this congress wants to be a privileged occasion to propose
a missionary evangelization not only for and with the little ones
and poor, but also from them, and at the simultaneously finds ground
that has been made fertile with the blood of their martyrs of yesterday
and today.
The CAM2 - COMLA7 wants to offer the possibility that the ethnic
diversity, and, in general, all the indigenous, Afro-Americans and
the most excluded of the continent, have the opportunity to show
us their faces: the expression of their pain and hope, and a proper
space to attain a more fertile dialogue that animates decidedly
the inculturation of the Gospel from a missionary perspective.
Central America is the heart of the American continent and the bridge
that unites North America with South America. For this reason, the
realisation of the Congress in Guatemala, is an opportunity so that
the local Churches of the continent favour communion and effective
solidarity, not only of the Central American and Caribbean countries
and people, but of the entire continent from Canada to Patagonia.
Likewise, the Congress should be an opportunity to suggest joint
pastoral and life pathways in order to pay attention to the complex
phenomena of human migration, which as much challenges the ecclesial
communities as it does the majority of the peoples of our continent.
