Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation
of Peoples, pastoral visit in Asia 3-11 July 2002 to encounter the
local Churches in South Korea and Mongolia. In Korea, 3-6 July,
besides meeting the Bishops, clergy and missionaries and laity the
Cardinal will ordain priests and a deacon, say Mass at a rural parish.
The first engagement was Mass at the Shrine of the Korean martyrs,
the Cardinal himself explained the reason for this in his homily
during the Mass: "I chose to begin my first Pastoral Visit
to the beloved Catholic Church of Korea from this place which emanates
holiness... Here you keep the memory of so many witnesses of the
Gospel who bathed the land of your Fathers with their blood rendering
it fertile through the supreme sacrifice of their martyrdom. This
is your glory which is poured out over the whole world." |
