| “Immaculate
Mary is God crying out to human history. Here is what
he cries: "Be careful! Sin is evil which brings
evil: sin does not bring happiness”. It is enough
to see the haste, anxiety and need for evasion and escape
which marks affluent societies… to realise that
God’s cry is the truth .
Immaculate Mary is a guarantee that God is struggling
to free humanity of infection from sin: the beauty of
Mary is the future catapulted into our history to offer
us courage and hope.
And Mary, what has she to say to us ? Mary tells us
that what is so new about her starts from Jesus: He
is the Saviour and it is to Him that Mary draws and
leads us to enable us to share with her the joy of a
heart in which God is at home.
The last of the words spoken by Mary recorded in the
Gospel of St John are these: "Do what he tells
you to do!” (Jn 2, 5)
In Loreto on Saturday 11 December, the 150th anniversary
of the proclamation of the Dogma of the Immaculate,
all the Bishops of Marche together with the people of
their respective dioceses, will make a new act to consecrate
the Region to the Immaculate Heart of Mary: from heaven
Blessed Pius IX will smile to see that Marian devotion
in his land is still strong.”
