EUROPE/ITALY - ITALIAN NATIONAL MEETING: INFECTION NEWS 2003 MEETINGS: LATEST RESULTS OF RESEARCH ON INFECTIVE DISEASES

Rome (Fides Service) – Famous doctors, scholars, researchers, health workers are meeting in Rome for the 6th National Meeting on Infectious Diseases, “Gli incontri di Infection News 2003” Infection News Meeting, 8 to 10 September at the Aula Magna “C. Urbani” of S. Andrea Hospital in Rome. The meeting is sponsored by the Italian Society for Infective and Tropical Diseases. The Meeting comes at an important time for the development of Infectuology. One of the main matters for discussion will be SARS Sudden Acute Respiratory Syndrome, on how it originated, if it is really extinct, or of there is a possibility of a new outbreak in the coming Autumn Winter in the northern hemisphere and if too much emphasis was put on information. Another important theme is viral hepatitis HCV, which in Italy strikes an average of 2-3% of the general public and often leads to serious conditions such as chronic hepatitis. The Meeting will also answer the question, is it possible with a simple blood test and examination of blood cells to study the evolution of Hepatitis in Italy? There will also be round tables on invasive mycosis, infective diseases in literature: typhoid of Ursula and Bebert, and the policy of antibiotics in hospital.
