AFRICA/MOZAMBIQUE - Integrated program for the fight against poverty through rural development and human formation: a social project for a rural area

Moatize (Agenzia Fides) - In the province of Tete, the Salesian Mission in Moatize is realizing the second edition of Austria - Moatize project carried out by the NGO Austrian Salesian Jugend Eine Welt. According to the statement released by ANS, the Project provides the funding in support of social development, thanks to the "Integrated program for the fight against poverty through rural development and human formation - 2013-2015". The aim is to improve the ability of members of the rural community to adopt innovations in agriculture and livestock, in order to optimize their food security and income. The direct beneficiaries are about a thousand families, for a total of about 5000 people, who all live in rural communities in the district of Moatize. Indirectly other 8000 people living in the surrounding areas will also benefit. The project involves the development of human capabilities in agricultural techniques and animal traction, the promotion of horticulture and fruit growing, the supply of irrigation pumps to farmers, as well as support to schools and health centers. All this will be carried out in three communities Inhangoma, 4 in Kambulatsitse, Mecungas Mussacama and Nkondezdze. (AP) ( Agenzia Fides 08/05/2014)
