AFRICA/BURUNDI - Appointment of the Rector of the "Saint Curé d'Ars" inter-diocesan Theological Seminary in Bujumbura

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On March 5, 2013 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed rev. Emmanuel Gihutu of the clergy of the Diocese of Ruyigi Rector of the "Saint Curé d'Ars" inter-diocesan Theological Seminary in the diocese of Bujumbura (Burundi).
The new Rector was born in Bweru on December 25, 1959. He went to the "Saint Pius X" Minor Seminary in Muyinga, the Collège Notre Dame in Gitega, the minor Seminary in Dutwe, the Saint Curé d'Ars Major Seminary and the Major Seminary of Burasira. After his ordination, he went to the parish of the Cathedral of Ruyigi and carried out various roles at a diocesan level and was a teacher and rector of the minor Seminary of Dutwe. From 1997 to 2001 he continued his studies in philosophy, until his graduation in Abidjan. When he returned home, he taught philosophy at the Major Seminary of Bujumbura and Burasira, and at the Higher Institute of pedagogy in Butare (Rwanda), and then directed the ICA (Institut Africain catéchétique) in Muyange. In 2010 he obtained his doctorate in philosophy, and was nominated academic Director and professor at the Major Seminary of Bujumbura, and professor at the Université du Lac Tanganyika.
