AMERICA/DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - Christian Churches committed to education, health and rights of 30 000 children

Santo Domingo (Agenzia Fides) - There are about 30 thousand children, girls and adolescents who benefit from support programs offered by churches, NGOs and other Christian organizations engaged in the Gran Santo Domingo area. The recent study "Status of Children at risk in Santo Domingo", sent to Fides Agency, highlights the situations this population faces on a daily basis in the province of Santo Domingo and the National District. It also points out the initiatives proposed by various sectors of society, including the State and its institutions, NGOs and churches. The study was made public and elaborated by the institutions of Social Services of the Dominican Churches in the presence of representatives of church leaders, NGOs, individuals, promoters of children's rights in the Dominican Republic.
