El Obeid (Agenzia Fides) - The military hospitals in El Obeid and Khartoum refused to treat the wounded militiamen during the recent fighting with rebel groups in South Kordofan. The inhabitants of El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan, continue to complain about aggression and violence committed by armed groups. According to the local radio broadcaster Radio Dabanga, they attack and rob civilians in their homes and on the streets. They enter markets and take food and other necessities without paying. The source also reported that the militiamen fired shots into the air in front of the military hospital in El Obeid when the director of the hospital refused to treat those injured during the fighting with rebel groups in South Kordofan. The shootings sparked panic among patients and hospital visitors. The inhabitants of El Obeid have asked authorities to immediately expel the armed groups. In Khartoum, the militiamen and their wounded comrades stormed into the military hospital. They entered by force in the Orthopaedics ward expelling the civilian patients when the hospital management refused to treat the wounded militiamen. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 12/12/2013)
