AFRICA/BURUNDI - Appointment of the Coadjutor of Bubanza

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father, on December 7, 2013, appointed Rev. Georges Bizimana of the clergy of Ngozi, Rector of the Jean Paul II major Seminary of Gitega as Coadjutor Bishop of the Diocese of Bubanza (Burundi).
Rev. Georges Bizimana was born on March 12, 1965 in Buraniro, Diocese of Ngozi. He completed his studies in Philosophy and Theology at the major Seminary in Bujumbura. He was ordained a priest on 20 August 1994. He later obtained a Doctorate in Moral Theology in Rome. After ordination he has held the following positions: 1994-1997: Formator at the minor Seminary in Mureke; 1997-2001: Assistant priest in Gasenyi; 2001-2002: Pastor of Mubuga; 2002-2004: Chancellor of the diocese; 2004-2008: Studies for a Doctorate in Moral Theology at the Alfonsianum, in Rome, residing at the Belgian College; 2008-2010: Professor at the Theological Jean Paul II major Seminary of Gitega; since 2010: Rector of the same Seminary.
