San José (Agenzia Fides) - In 2013, the number of dengue cases has doubled in the National Children's Hospital. The virus has infected 1,500 children under 4 years of age. Since hemorrhagic fever reappeared in the country in 1993, every year more and more children, adolescents and young people become infected. This is what the head of the Health Check of the Costa Rican Ministry of Health reported, who adds that more attention must be given to the young segment of the population in order to give better assistance. On November 9, the Ministry recorded 46,779 patients, this is the highest number of infections recorded since 2005. Most of the infections occurred in the coastal regions. The Chorotega Region saw a recovery in the number of cases filed, particularly in the cantons of Abangares, La Cruz and Liberia. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 19/11/2013)
