ASIA/HONG KONG - The Catholic Biblical Association of Hong Kong celebrates 40 years of pastoral service

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - The Catholic Biblical Association of Hong Kong celebrated the 40th anniversary of ministry with Holy Scripture and expressed gratitude for the beatification of Father Gabriele Maria Allegra, OFM (1907-1976 ) celebrated last year, the first blessed in Hong Kong and translator of the Bible in the Chinese language published in 1968. According to a report in the weekly newsletter of the Diocese of Hong Kong Kung Kao Po, on January 27 Cardinal John Tong, Bishop of the Diocese of Hong Kong, together with 200 priests, father Allegra’s confreres, his relatives from Sicily and a group of laity, celebrated their path of evangelization with the Word of God. Cardinal Tong called for "the intercession of Our Lady of China and Father Allegra so that the whole community will continue to love more and more the word of God in the footsteps of the blessed." On the same day the exhibition dedicated to the monk was inaugurated and, on the same occasion, the spiritual director of Catholic Biblical Association urged everyone so that "the Word of God is part of everyone's life through our ministry."
The Catholic Biblical Association of Hong Kong was founded in 1973 to apply the conciliar Constitution Dei Verbum with the aim of promoting the pastoral and biblical evangelization in Hong Kong. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 01/02/2013)
